In basic terms, the phrase ‘turning’ means the process during which a single pointed cutting tool is held at a parallel to the material that is ultimately being ‘turned’. The material in question (regardless of whether it is plastic, stone, metal or wood) is then rotated and then the cutting tool is then traversed across two axes of motion so as to produce exact diameters and depths specified by the customer or client.
